COVID-19 Adjustments
★ In late December 2019, a previous unidentified coronavirus, currently named as the 2019 novel coronavirus, emerged from Wuhan, China, and resulted in a formidable outbreak in many cities in China and expanded globally.
★ In March 2020 we were in disbelief with everything going on in the world, and to hear the news that CPP made the decision to transition to online classes for the remainder of the semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We knew there would be new challenges to face, but the news reminded us to be grateful for the little things and to cherish every moment, especially with our sisters. Days before our Semi-Formal, Total Chapter Retreat, and many more anticipated events, we had to encourage positivity and chapter interaction. We came up with the idea of a ZTA Social Distance Instagram Spirit Week. Each day had a different theme that resulted in a wildly successful and innovative way to keep our sisters engaged during tough times. Themes included: ZTA Attire Monday, Thankful for You Tuesday, Wear Pink Wednesday, Pajama Thursday, and Fam Friday. Our chapter felt closer than ever after this virtual week and helped us feel connected while apart.
★ To stay connected while apart from our sisters, our Executive Board hand wrote personalized letters to each member in our chapter. To start a chain reaction, we assigned each member one sister to write to that they don’t typically know too well. We got crafty and decorated each letter with glitter, stickers, pink ribbons… you name it! We had an amazing response from chapter and felt the love and appreciation that a traditional handwritten letter makes you feel. This was an especially fond moment for our Seniors who didn’t get the chance to experience those last moments and special memories made during their last few months of college. We hope to continue unique sisterhoods like this to stay connected.
As Fall 2020 will remain virtual as well, we are taking every precaution necessary to stay safe, while also keeping our chapter strong. Stay tuned and follow our social media for more updates as Fall 2020 gets closer!
